Why Real Love Needs Fairness — Not Just Sacrifice

Sometimes, love makes us do crazy things right??. We take blame we don’t deserve. We carry weight that isn’t ours. We stay silent when we should speak up — all because we want the relationship to survive.

I know this too well. I was in a place where misunderstandings were normal, but I believed love was bigger than all that. So when fights came, I took the blame. Every time. Because to me, it didn’t matter who was right or wrong — what mattered was us.

But here’s the truth many of us forget: Taking all the blame out of love can trap you in a cycle where your partner never owns their part. They start to believe they’re never at fault, while you silently bear the burden. And that’s not love — that’s imbalance.

Love isn’t about losing yourself to keep someone else happy. It’s about two imperfect humans growing, forgiving, and owning their mistakes together.

It’s okay to say: I love this relationship, but I’m not always wrong. I deserve to be heard and understood too.

When one person refuses to admit fault or meet you halfway, the relationship loses its foundation. It’s exhausting. It’s lonely. It chips away at your spirit.

If you’re giving all the love and taking all the blame, it’s time to pause and ask: Is this truly love? Or is it sacrifice to the point of self-erasure?

Your voice matters. Your feelings matter. Your boundaries matter. Real love respects that.

So to anyone reading this who’s been taking the blame just to keep peace — stop. Love doesn’t ask you to carry the weight alone.

Stand up for yourself. Speak your truth. Demand fairness. Because the right relationship is built on balance, respect, and both people showing up fully.

And if they can’t meet you there? Then maybe it’s time to rethink what you’re holding on to.

For Empress, always.
